print // vice 2

Years after the original Do's and Don'ts was let loose on the literary market, Vice has finally returned with a sequel. I am not lying when I say that the original is one of my favorite books of all time. My love for the fashion world is as deep and unironic as they come, but come on now, fashion is fun and silly and this book reminds us of that in the filthiest ways possible.

Vice Do's and Don'ts Book 2 available at Urban Outfitters $20.

visors

I was thinking the other day about trends that just appear seemingly out of nowhere. Like things you haven't seen people wear for years that all of a sudden everyone seems to be wearing. Seriously, when was the last time you saw someone wearing a visor?

I shouldn't answer that because I have had visors on my mind and radar detected one the other day on a hot asian woman BUT to my defense I live in Connecticut the land of tennis playing housewives and so there are bound to be visors around for sports purposes.

the runaways // cherie bomb

Hello daddy, hello mom,
I'm your ch ch ch ch cherry bomb.
Hello World I'm your wild girl,
I'm your ch ch ch ch cherry bomb!

Any chick who wears full on Dr. Frankenfurter one day and a gas attendant one piece the next doesn't care about what you think. I like that.

alice mcccall

Loving this super graphic black piping with the girly floral background in these Alice Mccall getups available at asos. I'm no fashion historian but these looks seem to encompass the best of every decade in the twenty/twenty-first century mashed together in the best way possible. Yes, fashion historians please feel free to quote me on that one.

lets go camping // camping style

If you have never gone camping, go. If you don't love it at least it will make you appreciate the comforts of the inside world, like walls, which you are probably taking for granted right now. Sartorially speaking camping might not be the epitome, but I love the makeup free, tomboy, shoeless beauty it allows for.

Surface Scan believes in no rules though so if you want to fox yourself up in the wilds, like that lingerie look by The Lake and the Stars, well shoot that looks pretty killer too.

beach day

I love sunday mornings in the summer because I can combine all my favorite things at once: going to the beach, reading the sunday New York Times and drinking coffee.

don't worry // summer hats

Let's just get it out, people that can wear hats with this much ease are better than the rest of us. Carla Bruni you put us to shame woman! Look at her in that hat that would make anyone else look like they were at their nephews rodeo themed birthday party, lookin' all cool and put together.

Don't worry about it too much though, it looks like all it really takes to pull off a hat like these chicks is some beachy hair, a cozy little top and a tan.

oh yes canada

I love finding some new e-tail. Ha that sounded dirty. Anyways just browsed the shopping site ssense and it's pretty neat. Apparently it is Canada's largest designer online retailer and I'm always being told that Canada is some secret shopping destination. Ok maybe not secret but us Americans don't know TOO much about what's going on up there. I've heard the vintage in Vancouver is to die for and that Toronto is full of hot chicks in hot clothes. My ssense wish list includes...

1 Dannijo earrings $320, 2 Surface to Air booties $242 on sale, 3 Alexander Wang shorts $182 on sale, 4 Alice and Olivia faux fur jacket $395, 5 Alexander Wang bag $875, 6 Christopher Kane tank $87 on sale, 7  Alexander McQueen ring 8 Iro leather jacket $1200, 9 Alexander McQueen ring $315, 10 Haute Hippie dress $410 on sale.

dark beauty

Here at surface scan we like our beauty on the darker side, like cali goth hottie Kristin Stewart. Nicolas Ghesquiere must agree, not only is she the new spokesmodel for Florabotanica frangrance, check out the closing look for Balenciaga Fall 12 with the red skirt and leather bustier, the model is basically Stewarts double.

After coming across the K Stew ad I went back to check out the Spring 08 collection where the dress she wears originated. Do you remember when that collection came out? And Jennifer Connelly in that dress? Wow. It was pretty epic, who didn't want those gladiator sandals? Oh reminiscing...

metalhead

Thanks to Abbey Lee, Bambi, and Alice (not to mention that cutie Rooney Mara) nose rings have been simmering for a while in the fashion set. The team at Givenchy took it to another level during spring 12, as seen on Closet Boy and Dazed covers, producing my favorite unwearable accessory of the season.
