flashback // rollerskate

This blog is not advocating the use of roller skates (if you are old enough to know what they are) you will probably hurt yourself. I just felt compelled to give some props to these bad ass seventies skaters teaching us a lesson or two about how to get down in the heat.

In the depths of summer you shouldn't be worrying about your hair and makeup and all that junk, the humidity will just mess it up anyways, so throw on some short shorts, a t-shirt and some tube socks and go get crazy in the streets.

i fink u freeky // alexander wang

Thank You Alexander Wang for introducing me to Die Antwoord...and for your collaboration with Linda Farrow even though I can't find a pair of those sunglasses anywhere. If anyone has a spare pair please let me know.

black and white // summer style

Black and white for summer can be so refreshing after the parade of brights you see everywhere. I love the geometric print which BCBG came out with this season as seen in the ad above and being rocked double time in the blog Late Afternoon. And in the blog Song of Style the Pencey sleeveless shirt pulls off the same breezy black and white look.

snakeskin 7.9.12

Limited Edition Coach.

Snakeskin is hard to pull off in large doses. Rihanna does not have to worry about this since she is a goddess and can wear whatever Liberace inspired getup she wants. If you are not Rihanna and are craving some more subdued snakeskin Coach can help you out.

I've never really been into Coach until I went searching for the limited edition tote by James Nares with those beautiful sweeping painted strokes on them and discovered it in the mens section (and that the price was over $700!).

Go check out the Coach men's shop for these luxe limited edition snakeskin pieces. Pricey yes, but also timeless.

hot spot // leopard

All items available on sale at J. Crew.

I am loving scarves for summer. You can wear them in tons of different ways, they are easy to pack and take up no space in your bag so they are perfect for traveling.

Pick up this leopard scarf which is on mega sale at J. Crew today (extra 30% off sale prices with code musthave) along with all these other tasty summer treats.

I'm sorry, anything that is on sale TWICE makes me happy. Just think of all the money you're saving! Wink wink.

brimfield antique show 7.8.12

All photos courtesy of the awesome blog Beckerman Bite Plate.

I originally heard about the Brimfield Antique Show in the Lucky article above, which must have been about six years ago when I was living on the west coast. As soon as I made it back east Brimfield became at least a yearly destination (there are three sessions annually).

The antique fair covers a mile stretch of the main street, filling tents, barns, tables and trucks with every conceivable good one can imagine. My favorite past purchases include antique wood printing blocks from Pakistan, vintage silk scarves, and a pair of toy Indian warriors.

All the photos above are from Beckerman Bite Plate, one of the most delightful fashion blogs out there, run by the three Beckerman sisters who are obviously Brimfield fans as well.

Remaining Brimfield sessions this year: July 10-15 and September 4-9. Brimfield, MA.

make yourself proud // nike

All items available at Nike.

This is the best Nike ad ever. Actually there is no way that can be true since Nike is the reigning king of advertising, however this ad really motivates me to get my butt to the gym and since it's summer that is essential. The chick is so hardcore hot I don't know if I want to be her or give my lunch money to her. I do know that I want to be able to run faster than her.

All the Nike clothes above are in that sweet spot where sportswear and streetwear combine and form something so much greater.

selena balmain asos oh my 7.2.12

Asos t-shirt available here.

Elle just killed it on their June cover. The color, the clothes, the hand drawn headline! Summer editions of magazines are usually pretty paltry compared with the rest of the year so it was nice to get a bit of a surprise at the newsstand.

I don't know a lot about Selena Gomez except for the Bieber and the Disney aspects, but she looks amazing in this baroque Balmain getup. For something similar thats under $30 check out this Asos t-shirt on their site.

usa usa 7.1.12

Asos, that is so sweet of you to represent the USA even though you are a British company and the 4th of July is basically celebrating our breakup...

los awesome 7.1.12

Neon bikinis, ying yang t-shirts, Axel Rose headbands and belly shirts. Oh early 90's surf style you were just so fun we couldn't let you go.
